In 1984, when a group of ski patrollers learned Silver Star Mountain Resort was building a new day lodge in the centre of the village, they looked back at the original day lodge—an iconic three-story ‘A’ frame structure—and had an idea.
In 1987, Pinnacles Suite Hotel welcomed its first guests. After three years building the 11 suites that now make up the Central Lodge, people marvelled at the conversion. Each suite kept some unique detail from the original lodge: exposed wooden beams, a rock fireplace, A-frame lofts kids adore.
Pinnacles quickly became one of the most popular Silver Star hotels for people who wanted the chalet experience: a cosy suite with room for everyone, a kitchen to fix meals, and the chance to ski-in, ski-out directly onto mountain powder.
In addition to the fantastic location and unforgettable character, this was one of the few Silver Star hotels that offered, from a private sundeck hot tub, endlong views of the Monashee Mountains and its namesake Pinnacles peaks.
If all of that – the charm, the locale, the amenities weren’t enough – the hotel took pride in turning guests into friends with the hospitality of a family.
To help keep up with demand, owners eventually added on to the hotel. First the West Wing, a group of three-story three and four-bedroom townhome style suites was built. Ten years later, the Pinnacles Slopeside executive townhomes were added featuring: private garages, designer finishes, and room for 11 to 13 people. In 2020 the Peaks Townhomes were finished as a final addition to The Pinnacles. The Peaks feature all of the amenities of the Slopeside townhomes and more with heated floors in the boot rooms and master ensuites, top of the line in home finishes and room for up to 9 or 10 people. All of these suites and townhomes are now individually owned and offered for nightly rentals as vacation home rentals
Whichever corner of the Pinnacles you find yourself in, you’ll enjoy all the amenities of modern hotels, such as WiFi, DVD players, gourmet coffee, as well as some pleasant surprises: private hot tubs and barbecues in most suites as well as complimentary movies, board games, ski lockers and parking. You’re also welcome to bring the four-legged members of your family!
